Deane House
Named for Captain Richard Burton Deane, the last superintendent of Fort Calgary, Deane House is the only remaining North West Mounted Police (NWMP) building in the city. Built in 1906 on the Fort Calgary site, Deane House was moved across the Elbow River to its current location. Sal Howell, a noted Calgary restaurateur was asked to restore the home and turn it into a destination eating establishment. She did. And it has been on the list of top restaurants in Canada since. FERVOR designed and produced the identity, signage, menus, advertising campaigns (“at the confluence of then and now” being our favourite line), event promotions and more. Of note is the hand crafted gold leaf lettering on the entrance and the word “etceteras” on the main sign - pulled directly from Captain Dean’s journal.
